Academic and Professional Honesty and Integrity

 

If you are a student, tutor, teacher, or other participant in educational services, you should consult the academic and professional integrity rules and guidelines of the pertinent institution to which you belong or to which you are submitting works in order to ensure that you do not violate said rules and guidelines.  In particular, you should be aware that such rules and guidelines may provide for sanctions and penalties if you violate their terms.  Collegly encourages academic integrity and Collegly considers any use of the Collegly Platform which occurs in direct knowing violation of any codes of ethical conduct to which any User is beholden to be a violation of Collegly’s Terms of Use.

 

Services provided by Collegly and available through the Collegly Platform are valuable for learning assistance, research, educational development, and problem-solving.  The Collegly platform is an efficient means for students, tutors, and educators to meet and exchange educationally valuable information and services.  All users must uphold the highest standards of academic and personal integrity.     

 

Academic dishonesty is sometimes defined as the attempt to secure unfair advantage for oneself or another in any academic exercise.  Examples of prohibited conduct which may constitute violations of academic and professional integrity standards pertinent to You include:

a)  Cheating

b)  Plagiarism

c)  Fabrication or Dishonest Reporting

d)  Falsification or Records or Documents

e)  Misrepresentation of Identity

f)   Inducing others to violate rules

g)  Theft

h)  Unauthorized collaboration

i)    Multiple submission

 

YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR UNDERSTANDING AND ADHERING TO THE ACADEMIC HONESTY AND PROFESSIONAL INTEGRITY STANDARDS THAT APPLY TO YOU OR TO ANYONE BEING TUTORED BY YOU.  Collegly WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE TO ANY INDIVIDUAL OR INSTITUTION FOR ANY CONSEQUENCES OF ANY VIOLATIONS OF ANY RULES IN THIS REGARD.  Collegly EXPRESSLY DENOUNCES ACADEMIC DISHONESTY.  IF YOU ARE UNSURE WHETHER YOUR USE OF THIS SITE CONSTITUTES ACADEMIC DISHONESTY OR VIOLATION OF RULES PERTINENT TO YOU, DO NOT ENGAGE IN SUCH USE.

 

In particular, Collegly restricts Use of the Collegly platform to ethical uses only, and Collegly expressly prohibits unethical or illegal conduct on the Collegly Platform.  For example, You should:

·   Never seek to have another person complete an assignment or examination for you when doing so would be a violation of any rule.

·   Never seek assistance with a problem or on an assignment that will complete your work if doing so would be a violation of any rule.

·   Never submit a work product in your name if it is not your work.

 

Special Responsibilities for Tutors and Counselors.

Users providing tutoring, counseling, advice, or other assistance to students (“Tutors”) are also responsible for maintaining ethical conduct.  Tutors are required to both understand and adhere to any applicable academic and professional standards with respect to all users of the Collegly Platform.  For example, if a Tutor is working with a student, the Tutor should inquire about the project and educational institution pertaining to the student and should independently verify that Tutoring services do not violate any rules or laws.  For example, You should:

·   Teach students how to complete assignments rather than complete their assignments Yourself.

·   Avoid submitting examples or work products to students if you suspect they may be plagiarized.

·   Never pose as someone else when completing an assignment or examination.

 

When counseling a student, a Tutor is in a position of influence over that student.  Therefore, Tutors have a special duty of care and responsibility towards the users they serve.  Your use of the Collegly Platform to provide services to others constitutes your acknowledgement of this special duty of care and responsibility.  In particular, it is the responsibility of every tutor to ensure that their interactions with students never involve unethical or illegal conduct or inappropriate content.  ALL INTERACTIONS BETWEEN TUTORS AND USERS VIA THE Collegly PLATFORM MUST PERTAIN TO EDUCATIONAL CONTENT ONLY, AND SAID INTERACTIONS MAY NOT INVOLVE DISCUSSIONS OR SUGGESTIONS OF ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OR ANY SOCIALLY INAPPROPRIATE, LASCIVIOUS, HARASSING, INSULTING, VEXATIOUS, UNETHICAL OR UNLAWFUL MATTERS.

 

Violations and Discipline

Any unethical or unlawful conduct by any User via the Collegly Platform may result in penalties and disciplinary actions being taken against such User as provided above, up to and including suspension or cancellation of account and a permanent ban from Collegly.  Collegly will decide upon disciplinary matters at its sole discretion.  Each party will be granted full confidentiality and an opportunity to be heard in any matter arising under this section.  Nevertheless, Collegly is committed to the safety and integrity of our users and platform and may respond to an accused party with the utmost severity for even a first violation.

 

Reporting actual or suspected misconduct

Whenever any user encounters unethical, prohibited, or questionable conduct via the Collegly Platform, YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY REPORT IT TO Collegly by sending a detailed explanation of the offending conduct to violation@Collegly.com.  Failure to report misconduct is a violation of the Collegly Terms, and it may also affect your rights in any legal matters arising out of misconduct.
